No more dieting. No more forbidden foods. No more binging. No more feeding frenzy. No more last suppers. No more trying to eat your last pint of Haagen-Dazs or that last package of Oreos. Every other day is the diet for the rest of your life where you can eat Haagen-Dazs and Oreos, just not every day.

Here’s how.

On your diet day, women eat up to 400 calories of fresh fruit. Men eat up to 600 calories. Nothing else. Apples, oranges, bananas and pears are 100 calories each. Cherries and grapes are 100 calories a cup. Melon, berries, grapefruit and pineapple are 50 calories a cup. You can eat a whole cantaloupe and a whole honeydew and be under 400 calories. If you’re not hungry, you don’t have to eat all 400. On your eating day, eat what you want. Just don’t be crazy. You get to eat anything you want again in 2 days, so there’s no reason to binge.

The less you eat, the faster you are going to lose weight. So if you’re not hungry, don’t eat. Keep sugar to a dull roar, or you’re not going to feel good, but you know that. Eat what you want, just don’t be stupid. You can have vodka and Twinkies on your food day. I don’t recommend it, and you’ll feel like hell, but it’s your choice. The key is not to go over 400-600 calories on diet day. Most patients lose 5-10 pounds their first week dieting every other day and 2-3 pounds every week.

Every Other Day is also maintenance. There’s no diet to fall off. Stay on Every Other Day for the rest of your life and you can weigh what you want to weigh for the rest of your life.
